Welcome to WSPRA - the State's Leader in School-Community Relations!

The Wisconsin School Public Relations Association (WSPRA) is a professional association representing schools, school districts, educational associations, consulting agencies and organizations. WSPRA is a state affiliate of the National School Public Relations Association.

In 2006, WSPRA received NSPRA's Distinguished Chapter Award as the top chapter in the nation for its "commitment to advancing education through strong school communication."  In both 2007 and 2008, WSPRA received NSPRA's Distinguished Single Project Award and honorable mention for the Distinguished Chapter Award.

Passing a Referendum


The passage of school referenda has become a critical issue in today's school financial climate. The tips to assure a successful referendum are deceivingly simple:

  • Know your community
  • Know how to reach your citizens (all the groups)
  • Begin your campaign early
  • Be able to answer questions about the issues of the referendum
  • Allow community groups to carry the message
  • Use every tool you have available to communicate with your audiences
  • Inform; do not advocate
