Melissa Badger has served the students, staff and families of the Beloit School District for four years, in the Department of Community and School Relations. She has been a member of WSPRA during those years, receiving insight and support from several members as she grew into her position as communications leader in her district.

She finds joy in many functions of her role including recognizing students for their many accomplishments, staff for their achievements, and community members for their dedication to children. She has helped move her district forward by utilizing technology to improve communications such as implementing an e-mail newsletter, school closings alert system, and online news publications.

A believer that the best communication is often face-to-face, however, she finds opportunities to take her district's messages directly to the public through community service. She represents her districton the board of her city's Convention and Visitor's Bureau (Visit Beloit), the Stateline United Way, and is an active member of the local Jaycees chapter. She also enjoys volunteering for her son's school and sports teams, teaching Sunday School and helping other service organizations when needed.

She is a proud alum of Beloit Memorial High School, home of the Purple Knights, and received her B.A. in Political Science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
