Rooms are reserved for WSPRA, Wednesday, Nov. 13 and Thursday, Nov. 14, 2024.

Rooms Rates:

  • 2 Bedroom Deluxe Glacier Canyon Lodge, $169.00
  • Double Queen Couch Glacier Canyon Lodge, $109.00
  • Guests can continue their stay Friday and Saturday at a discounted rate of $189 per night (standard room, Double Queen Sofa).

Reservation Instructions:

  • Reservations must be made by Monday, October 14, 2024
  • Call 1-800-867-9453 and state you are with Leader #A49718
  • Rates are subject to applicable state and local taxes (currently 12.25%) in effect at the time of check in, and a taxable $29.95 nightly Resort fee, or current prevailing fee if changed.
  • Guests may arrive after 12:00 pm and pre-register to obtain wristbands for the water park even if their room is not ready until check in time. Guests may use the facilities all day on their scheduled departure date.

We have a reciprocal arrangement with MinnSPRA and INSPRA. Members of these two organizations may register for the WSPRA Fall Conference at our member conference rates. If you are a member of MinnSPRA or INSPRA, please email wsprapresident@gmail.com to obtain the reciprocal registration code.

Cancellation Information: A full refund of fees will be made on cancellations received 10 days prior to the start of the convention. Following that date, a 40% administrative fee will be retained. There will be no refund for no-shows or cancellations during the event.

Session 1:  Survive & Thrive as New School PR Communicators

Join us for a pre-conference session designed for new school communications and public relations professionals. The focus is on less than 4 years, but all are welcome!

A panel of four experienced WSPRA members will share insights and tips on topics such as: defining your role with administration and the school board; effective communication strategies and building relationships with your community, surviving your first referendum, strategic planning, and Q&A. Plus, you will receive the presentations/handouts from last year’s pre-conference, which includes planning tools; marketing and branding; and crisis communications.

Session 2: Craft Compelling Video Content Using Just Your Phone
Presenter:  Jake Sturgis, APR, Founder & CEO, Captivate Media + Consulting
Level up your video production skills by learning to plan, record, and share videos that tell your story without professional equipment. This pre-session will walk you through the basics of what makes a good video story. There will be hands-on opportunities to learn how to capture amazing footage with just your phone and how to leverage new editing tools that will take your videos to the next level. We’ll also discuss the changing social media algorithm to help you maximize engagement and views on the content you create.

Don’t Let Legal Issues Get You Down

Attorneys Shana R. Lewis and Laura Pedersen will provide an overview of two legal issues attracting significant attention in Wisconsin Public School Districts in the last 6 months – Title IX and Act 10. They will also offer a refresher and some helpful tips on processing public records requests in accordance with the Wisconsin Public Records Law.

Create Your Crisis Communications Plan

When a crisis strikes, people will look to your district for timely, transparent communication. Are you ready?
